I hope you all had a lovely holiday and enjoyed some extra time off or at least a more relaxed schedule. I don’t believe I mentioned our Foundation's annual open house on November 15 at the Park Midway Bank in my last Thanksgiving blog, but it was from all reports a fun event. (I say reports, as I was not able to attend due to a flu I woke up with the day of the event.Yech.) Our 2012 grantees had a chance to update the attendees on their current programming and future goals...

What I Know 11-21-12

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I am going to downsize my blog so you don’t go into the big day already full. But in keeping with the intent of the holiday, I would like to list some things that I am thankful for in our neighborhood in no particular order:

  • Good neighbors who make a point of looking out for each other
  • The sound of children’s voices on their way to and from school
  • Volunteers helping wherever needed
  • Friendly merchants
  • Dedicated public servants
  • Beautiful park...

I promised I would regale you with stories of Wolfridge to make up for my absence last week, so here goes. For those who don’t know, Wolfridge Environmental Center is in Finland, MN up on the north shore of Lake Superior. St. Anthony Park Elementary and Murray Jr. High both send students up there in the fall for a week, StAP Elementary sends their whole 6th grade for an environmental experience and Murray sends about 70 7th & 8th graders for a combined leadership/cultura...

What I know 11-7-12

I know that I am up at Wolfridge Environmental Center with the Murray Jr. High students and teachers having a great time observing the wonderful outcomes of one of our annual grants.

I also know that the Foundation Annual Open House is next week, 5-7pm, Thursday Nov. 15 at the Park Midway Bank, Como office. We've added our annual wine-tasting & sale to the program from 5-6pm. $20 suggested donation for the tasting, 10% discount and 10% of sales plus proceeds go to the St.AP Elementary Music Pr...
