The Art Fair and the first Park B4 Dark are behind us and the 4th of July parade and picnic are coming up next week – summer is here! The weather has made its own statement by ringing in the new season with some seriously high winds and heavy rains that caused down trees and power outages across the metro and here in StAP. What I Know 6-19-13

I have to lead off with a reminder that our 4th annual summer Third Thursdays Park B4 Dark series kicks off tomorrow evening from 5-8pm along Como Avenue. There are specials at a number of our retail shops, music on the Bistro patio and in Speedy’s parking lot, and Foxy Falafel’s food truck bringing some southside food love to the front of the Bibelot.  There’s also a wine-tasting fundraiser at the bank for the boy scouts. What I Know 6-12-13

Rain…again. Ok, done with whining, let’s move on to the silver lining behind all these dark, wet clouds, and that’s how green everything looks and how the water has surely broken the drought. For newly planted trees, this weather has been wonderful and that includes the beautiful new red maple planted by the flagpole outside of the St. Anthony Park Elementary School last week. What I Know 6-5-13

We are back to mushroom-growing weather after a few days of sun. Luckily, one of those days was last Saturday, which greatly benefitted our Art Festival. Outdoor events are absolutely frightening since all the hard work and money spent can go for naught if the weather does not cooperate. This is the third year we have managed to have nice weather for most of the festival day and it makes a huge difference.
