I know I've talked about the series of break-ins/attempted break-ins before, but there is a related issue that needs some consideration as well, and that's how we report or describe suspects. When I posted the break-in attempt that happened to my neighbors, a reader asked if there was a description of the guys trying to break in. There was, but it was preliminary info I had heard and a bit general, so I decided not to share it.

What I Know 9-18-13

Break-ins, thefts from vehicles, thefts from yards…reading listserv it seems like these activities are stretching from a few months of the summer to pretty much year round. Day and night time, when occupants are gone or home, one person even reported that their dog was found in their yard apparently having been let out by the burglars. Let’s talk about the Saint Anthony Park Community Foundation. I think most of you know that it has been around for a few years, in fact, we will be celebrating 15 years of existence in 2014. 15 years of me poking my nose into as many parts of the community as I can in my half-time capacity as executive director. 15 years and over $400,000 in grant awards that have sustained the things we care about most. 15 years of neighbors supporting those grants and the other activities...

What I Know 9-4-13

The State Fair is over, school is back in session everywhere and fall is knocking on the door.  While I realize that most of the world is on a Jan-Dec schedule, the school year schedule takes particular prominence in a neighborhood replete with institutions of learning at all levels. It’s really fun watching the parents walk their kids to school for the new school year, meeting their classmates getting off busses to run together into new learning adventures.
